NYT: "Speed-Dating, Muslim Style"...

It sounds very awkward.. but not that much different than when the Imam introduces you to someone you do not know, only here in this environment, the men have to be serious, whereas with my experience with using the Imam there was a level that they men wanted to have sex outside of marriage and that turned me off, even scared me. I liked the online environment because you can always block bad intentioned suitors but when you are sitting across the table you have high emotions and waste your time.
    Everyone has fear to end up with someone who is bad, surely when you are seeking to get married for the first time when kids loom in your future having a bad husband or wife is not something couples should cope with. The parents being involved in their daughters life is honorable but this is not the norm in USA.
    The notation the journalist was taking that the father wanted her daughter to marry a Pakistanian Doctor or Lawyer is not really what Muslims should look for in a husband... Perhaps he should go back to read the Holy Quran and do some studying..
