I don't feel like typing out long passages right now, but I'm reading the first chapter "African American and Immigrant Relations" in Jamillah Karim's American Muslim Women: Negotiating Race, Class, and Gender Within the Ummah and feel she is very balanced and brilliant in her critical analysis on our community. Very much recommended so pick it up! :)
