tashkeel?
ReplyDeleteWow, I was going to make the same request along with a literal translation, too, (of course, at your convenience--yaa salaam, with all that reading, no hurry!) take care. wassalaamu 'alaykum
ReplyDelete:) I can put up the translation now easily, the tashkeel might take a little bit for me to type up on my own right now - it has to be on the Internet already somewhere with tashkeel but I need better searching capabilities...
ReplyDeletethere's a translation of this dua' by Ezzeddin Ibrahim and Denys Johnson-Davies (known for their translation of the 40 Hadith of Imam Nawawi) in their translation of Ibn Taymiyya's Al-Kalim al-Tayyib (the Goodly Word) which is actually where I found it. It's part of a hadith that reads:
"Neither worry nor sorry has afflicted a servant (of Allah) when he said:
O Allah, I am Your servant and the son of Your servant and the son of Your bondmaid; I am under Your control (lit. my forelock is in Your hand); Your judgement is carried out on me; Your decision about me is just, I ask You by every name that is Yours and by which You have named Yourself or that You have sent down in Your book or have taught to one of Your creation or that You have kept with Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that You have, to make the Qur'an the life (lit. the spring) of my heart, the light of my breast, the dispenser of my sorrow, the remover of my worry -
without Allah removing his worry and his sorrow and replacing them with freedom from distress."
(Related by Ahmad and Ibn Hibban)
